Matthew Lekker, architectural and interior photographer

Storytelling meets structure

I'm Matthew Lesperance, a photographer where storytelling meets structure, available worldwide. I specialize in architectural and interior photography, working closely with architects, interior designers, builders, and boutique hotels to bring their vision to life through clean, intentional imagery.

My job is how a building feels before anyone reads a spec sheet.

Credentials

What are my credentials?

LEED accredited professional

FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot

Master's degree in sustainable tourism

The combination matters. I understand how a building performs, not only how it looks, and that shapes what I choose to frame.

Approach

How do I approach a shoot?

01

Light first.

Natural light direction decides composition, mood, and camera position. I study window direction, shadow behavior, and how materials respond at different times of day.

02

Texture over square footage.

Stone, wood grain, plaster, glass, fabric, and shadow lines. Architecture is emotional. The experience of a space matters more than its specs.

03

Story over features.

Every shoot is sequenced: establishing perspective, emotional anchor, texture detail, transitional frame, hero moment.

04

Editorial depth.

No blown highlights. No crushed shadows. No cartoon HDR. Controlled contrast and layered depth.

05

Movement of light.

Morning, golden hour, blue hour, twilight, and the seasons. I plan for light, not against it.
